Community Planning, Development and Management


Our community planning, development and management work involves working collaboratively with community members to identify needs, issues and priorities to improve community outcomes.  Sometimes a review is conducted first to identify the barriers to community development and functioning, followed by the development of a community endorsed plan. 

This work always involves wide consultation with relevant stakeholders; in addition, we work developmentally with community members to assist in the development of skills such as running meetings, taking minutes, organising the community office, employing staff, completing financial management tasks and meeting legal obligations.


Development of Manuals and Other Resources



Gevers Goddard Jones has developed a large number of manuals and other resources for human services including:

Organisation Reviews and Evaluations



We conduct organisation reviews and evaluations for a wide range of service types including:

  • Residential Aged Care Services

  • Supported Accommodation and Assistance Program Services

  • Childcare Services

  • Volunteer and Community-based Services.

Aged Care Management Systems, Auditing and Consulting



Leslie Gevers and Marise Goddard-Jones have been contracted to the Aged Care Standards Agency to undertake aged care accreditation visits and follow-up support contacts.

To date we have completed 100 accreditation visits and support contacts.

In addition, we have worked with a number of aged care facilities to assist them in implementing management systems appropriate for accreditation.

We were commissioned by Aged and Community Services Western Australia to develop a Service Assessment Tool for aged care residential services to assess their compliance with the Aged Care Accreditation Standards. In addition, we present regular workshops on continuous improvement to Aged and Community Services members.

We have been working with the Western Australian Country Health Service to review and improve the provision of aged care in Western Australian country hospitals.


Research and Evaluation Studies



We conduct a wide range of research and evaluation studies including health service evaluations, domestic violence research, and homelessness and housing research.

Presentation of Training Workshops Training



Another area of ongoing work is the provision of facilitation and training. We provide task oriented facilitation for strategic planning and problem solving sessions and provide a broad range of training across all areas of human service management including governance, continuous improvement and evaluation, management systems implementation, staff management issues and the development of staff skills.


ISO Audits and Management System Development



Marise is a contract Senior Auditor for Quality Assurance Services assessing health and human service organisations under the ISO 9001:2000 framework. Marise completes some 40 of these audits a year. 

In addition, Marise can assist services wishing to attain Certification against the Quality Management System Requirements of ISO 9001:2000 develop systems to achieve their goal.

 


Development of Custom Spreadsheets and Database Applications



We have developed a range of custom spreadsheets and database applications for use in health and human services to assist in service management, monitoring and improvement.

Computer Consultancy



Leslie Gevers provides consultancy in information technology systems to community organisations. This includes the identification of needs and the development of Information Technology Plans. We have also been providing a help desk for users of a client management system for the Health Department of WA throughout 2000-2003.
